Solar PV, Fox 6kW Hybrid Inverter & EP Battery 12kWh Install

CASE STUDY

Whole house full backup off grid capable - Lower Earley, Reading

At this property we installed 12 Longhi 490W panels providing 5.8kW of generation capacity,

Lower Early Solar Panel Installation

The Solar Panels are coupled to a Fox Inverter & battery.

The customer wanted to ensure that in the event of a power outage the house circuits remained live, so this required a FOX Gateway, also known as an EPS box. The EPS box is an automatic changeover switch. In normal operation the house is powered from the Grid and the inverter simultaneously, should the EPS box detect an incoming grid failure the EPS box isolates the grid supply allowing the property to run entirely off battery assuming there is energy in the battery of course, this sort of set up requires a local earth rod installation for safety.

The system charges overnight using cheap electricity and the property uses this during the day in the winter, once the spring comes the PV will generally take over charging the  batteries and they will just top up as needed from the Grid.

We also updated & relocated the properties consumer unit as part of these works

To savings it’s estimated this system will produce 130% of the properties energy needs effectively reducing the bills to zero, Happy days.
